Ayurveda and Neem

Throughout the tradition of Ayurveda, several remedies have been created using Neem. Neem has a variety of benefits and a wide range of applications as well. One of the major reasons as to why neem was extensively used is because most parts of the tree can be used in one form of the other for medical benefits. The bark and the leaf has a plethora of uses that range from curing tiredness to severe case of diarrhoea and skin diseases. The Neem oil that is produced by crushing seeds is effective for the hair for treatment of dandruff and lice. Neem bark paste is also extremely effective as toothpaste. Recent studies show that the Neem tree has both alkaloids and limonoids which are what is used in pesticides and insecticides. It shows that the tree itself produces chemicals to keep itself safe. It also has antiviral and antifungal properties.
