Sleep and Stress

On a typical day, half of the working population of our nation wake up feeling exhausted and in this 90% of them shut off their alarm and try to catch a few extra minutes of sleep. Getting a complete month of good night’s sleep is as much impossibility as colonizing Mars. This unhealthy behavior takes a huge toll on our health, both physical as well as mental health. The side effects of improper sleep affect each and every activity that we perform. Even if we have done a particular task flawlessly countless times in the past, the lack of sleep could cause us to falter in our actions. Studies have also shown that those who sleep more than 6 hours on a daily basis tend to live longer than those who do not. It has also been reported that most of the night accidents are as a result of sleepless driving. Lack of sleep also contributes heavily to the increase in blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and many more diseases according to the National Sleep Foundation. It has been found out that stress of what has happened in the morning and the worry of what will happen tomorrow morning is the primary reason for sleeplessness.
