Ayurveda and Foot Care

The question that we need to ask ourselves is do we take care of our feet as much as we use them? And most of us if we are being honest have to say no. According to Ayurveda there are some simple but effective remedies one can implement to solve this crisis such as:

•          Wear comfortable shoes that fit properly

•          Have a bit of extra room in the toe area

•          Don't apply harsh techniques to remove corns and calluses

•          Whenever possible, air your feet by walking barefoot outside

•          Change your socks every day and whenever you exercise

•          Soak your feet in lukewarm water

An additional care you can give your legs is by massaging them. According to Ayurveda, the ideal way to massage your legs is by first washing your legs with soap and warm water, then apply oil for lubrication. Always start from the small toe and work your way to the big toe. Ensure to rub between the toes and also massage the ball of your foot in a circular motion. Finally massage your calf muscle to release tension

Most of the Ayurvedic treatments in Kerala revolve around instilling these long lost fundamental issues. The Ayurvedic resorts in Kerala, the Ayurveda training courses in Kerala have also adopted the same. The Yoga Center in Kannur has even adopted the Panchakarma Therapy in Kerala.
