Ayurveda and Ginger

According to Ayurveda, ginger is considered as a medicine chest in itself. It has unparalleled digestive advantages and in our Indian tradition it was a common practice to eat fresh ginger just before lunch and dinner to enhance digestion. It is also an excellent spice that can be used on a daily basis. It is also recommended for therapeutic use for joint discomfort; for motion or airsickness; and for clearing the microcirculatory channels to facilitate better absorption of nutrients and better elimination of wastes. All these benefits of ginger was explained by Ayurveda several hundreds of years ago and modern medicine has confirmed these benefits that ginger bestows only recently. The other added advantage that ginger has is that it can even be eaten raw. The pungent taste can be resolved by having a few slices of vegetables along with it.
